Rewiring for the Era of Gen AI
The math on generative AI (gen AI) can seem heady. But according to recent research, only a small percentage of companies are beginning to deliver meaningfully on generative AI’s promise. Many have succumbed to “death by a thousand pilots,” in the words of Rodney Zemmel, global leader of McKinsey Digital. He and fellow partners Eric Lamarre and Kate Smaje join global editorial director Lucia Rahilly to talk about their book Rewired: The McKinsey Guide to Outcompeting in the Age of Digital and AI, which continues to offer leaders a play-by-play guide for outcompeting in a fast-changing era. – McKinsey
Why Agents Are the Next Frontier of Generative AI
Foundation models can perform impressive feats, extracting insights and generating content across numerous mediums. But the next stage of gen AI is likely to be more transformative. By moving from information to action—think virtual coworkers able to complete complex workflows—the technology promises a new wave of productivity and innovation. McKinsey
Study: Can ChatGPT exceed humans in construction project risk management?
An investigation of the capabilities of the ChatGPT GPT-4 model, a form of artificial intelligence (AI), in comparison to human experts in the context of construction project risk management demonstrated that generative AI (specifically utilizing ChatGPT GPT-4) can augment CPRM processes. Quantitatively, ChatGPTs performance notably surpassed that of human experts. However, the study also contributes to the discourse by highlighting the current limitations of generative AI, represented by ChatGPT GPT-4. The qualitative analysis underscores the importance of context-specific, practical knowledge, and the ability to propose implementable strategies – areas where human experts still hold an edge.
